We all love our dogs, but sometimes they don’t quite live up to the image you had in mind. Maybe your dog does things that bother you as an owner. Jumping up, barking, scrapping, running away, not listening, eating off the street, and so on. No problem for the dog, but very annoying for the owner. At the same time, many situations are also conceivable where the dog experiences a problem and therefore displays unwanted behavior, such as aggression or fear.
At Van Stal, we help you and your dog find a solution to these problems together. We specialize in complex behavior issues such as falling out on leash, chasing traffic/people/dogs/horses, inability to be alone at home, and other manifestations of (fear) aggression or frustration. We work with positive training methods focused on the dog’s well-being. That means we do not use correction, coercion or any other form of suppressing behavior and emotions.
Want to know more about our vision? Read more about wellness-oriented dog training here.
In addition, we are affiliated with Keurmerk Dierenwelzijn (Animal Welfare Quality Mark) and our behavior therapists are registered with the NVGH and SPPD. This means that dogs that are insured are (partially) reimbursed for behavior programs.

Each private course begins with an initial two-hour consultation. You can also call us first to get an idea of what you need to consider. In preparation for this consultation, we ask you to complete a questionnaire at home. It may help to send along videos of the problem behavior so that we can estimate the reason behind the behavior. During the initial consultation, we look for the cause of the problem. We will discuss the possible ways to solve the problem and give you some tools to start working on your own already. In consultation, we determine which follow-up course is best for you.
During the hands-on sessions, you will gain a better understanding of your dog’s behavior. Why does your dog exhibit certain behaviour, what is the underlying emotion and how can you learn to deal with it?
You will learn to think consciously and solution-oriented in terms of redirecting behaviour rather than simply unlearning it.
Dog training will take on a whole new perspective and you will gain insight into your dog.
We will teach you to see through the eyes of a trainer, so that you will no longer need us.
Van Stal has several training rooms that can be fully enclosed. This allows us to work on the problem behavior in a safe and controlled environment. Whatever you and your dog are up against, we have the resources to help you. Is your dog anxious or can’t come to Van Stal for some other reason? No worries, we also come to your home.
CAUTION!
Even seemingly innocent behavior can eventually become a persistent, embarrassing or even dangerous problem.
Preventing behavior is really the best prevention. Asking for help is not always easy. You are consumed by the busyness of your daily life. The undesirable behavior is not always present, so you are not constantly confronted with it. Or it could be that your dog’s behavior has taken such violent forms that you may have become ashamed of it by now and that is the reason you have not yet called for help.
Both complex behavioral problems and innocuous problems often start small, your patience is running out, but you wait a little longer, until things really get out of hand. The longer you wait, the longer it will take to change the behaviour.
This also applies to trauma or fears, for example. After a possibly negative experience, a dog can rapidly develop aggression. This does not mean that you have an aggressive dog in your home, your dog is still very sweet, but your dog may have difficulty dealing with certain situations or stimuli. Don’t wait too long and enlist help, we are happy to help you and your dog.
